Fusaka, the much-anticipated hard fork of Ethereum will be activated with an important change in transaction gas cap.
You can read more about it here:
- Ethereum Foundation announced that the rollout of Fusaka to mainnet will enable a per transaction gas limit.
- With EIP-7825, the gas price cap will be implemented.
- In October, Ethereum activated its Fusaka upgrade on Holesky & Sepoila Testnet.
In a post published on the Ethereum Foundation’s blog, dated Tuesday, October 21st 2025, it was revealed that Fusaka will include an upgrade proposal which sets a gas fee cap for every single transaction.
EIP-7825 is activated on the mainnet once Fusaka launches. The rollout will bring a cap for gas fees of 16,78 million per transaction.
According to EFLimits are already active in Holesky’s and Sepolia’s testnets.
Fusaka observes changes on EthereumETH) mainnet.
“Previously, a single transaction could consume the entire block gas limit (~45 million gas), creating potential DoS risks and preventing parallel execution. EIP-7825 establishes a hard upper bound of 2²⁴ gas per transaction to improve block packing efficiency and pave the way for better parallel processing in future execution environments,” The EF wrote.
What is the impact on users?
Although the cap on gas fees limits how much gas can be used per transaction, it does not impact the total block gas limitation.
The cap also ensures that transaction blocks consist of several smaller and more predictable transactions – rather than one very large one.
Developers and users who are relying heavily on transactions of very high value should take note.
Ethereum Foundation recommends users to ensure that their transactions and contracts are aligned with the cap.
“For most users, nothing changes. The vast majority of transactions are already well below 16 million gas,” Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter said. “However, certain contracts and deployment scripts, particularly those performing batch operations, may exceed this limit. Such transactions will be invalid once Fusaka activates.”
Fusaka Upgrade: When will it be available?
Fusaka was upgraded to Holesky in Holesky’s testnet and activated earlier this month.
The mainnet activation is the next stage in Ethereum’s efforts to boost the network’s scalability.
Fusaka expected to launch On the mainnet by December 3, 2025. Sepolia’s deployment currently allows the stress test of EIP-7825 features.
