Marco Santini is an internationally acclaimed artist and impact designer who recently collaborated with Bitcoin Magazine to create a piece that merged the worlds art and bitcoin. He began his involvement by creating a work for Bitcoin Magazine’s inaugural issue. Illuminated: Bitcoin Magazine Issue #1 (see here), which was notably purchased by Emily Bailey at a Sotheby’s auction and now proudly resides in The Bitcoin Museum in Nashville, TN. This piece is a combination of key elements which capture the pivotal events in Bitcoin history. It was created by The Bitcoin Magazine.
Santini went a step beyond his commitment at the 2024 Bitcoin conference by creating a collaborative mural. The vibrant work, which is now displayed at The Bitcoin Museum in New York, was created to capture the voices of the attendees. “What does Bitcoin mean to you?” David Bailey the CEO of BTC Inc. made an interesting comment. “You know, so many things, cliché cheesy ones like ‘hope,’ but I’m gonna say ‘prosperity.’ Because Bitcoin, beyond hope, you need all the things that Bitcoin brings to give your life…fulfillment beyond just the financial element of it. If you’re full of hope, potential, and [are] excited about the future, you’ll prosper.”
Tony Sakich interviewed Santini to learn more about the mural, his experiences at conferences and what inspired him.

Tony: You’ve done this for the whole day, right? What’s your reaction to all the people who came to you, said words to you, and then asked you to put them into writing? What was the experience of yours at the conference like?
Marco: Sure. Marco Santini. My name is Marco Santini. Through interactive collaborative art, I have the opportunity to travel all over the world. I asked people this weekend at the Bitcoin Conference. “What does Bitcoin mean to you?” Listen to all people, from different backgrounds, without fear and try to really understand their thoughts.
This mural is a collection of over 250 answers. This mural has a lot of positive and vibrant messages. It’s bright colors, and it has a lot to say. I think that can improve your mental health.
Tony: What did you learn from the feedback?
Marco: Here are a couple of interesting things to take away. The most popular answer by far was “freedom.” Many people spoke about owning their money and not needing an intermediary. They may have been afraid of or mistrustful of the banking system. Second, the idea that everyone is part of one big family and their friends were here. The people interact and are looking forward to meeting each other. I was fascinated to learn how people meet, make friends, and connect here. When I asked, even though they were wearing Bitcoin logos from head to foot, “What does Bitcoin mean?” Of course, they would stop and think, which often led to meaningful, deep discussions.
Tony: It sounds amazing. What else can I say?
Marco: What is The following are some of the ways to get in touch with us. word?
Tony: P2P, peer-to-peer. Bitcoin was created for people, and anyone can use it to transact freely whenever they wish. No one needs to give them permission before they can send money. Trusting your business partner and building a community are important.
