Zama reports that a vault accepting only USDC confidential has become one of the biggest USDC vaults in Morpho’s Ethereum implementation, just weeks after it was opened to depositors.
You can read more about it here:
- Zama has announced that the USDC confidential deposits at its vaults have reached $23.23 Million, ranking it 8th among all Ethereum Morpho USDC Vaults.
- Users can earn DeFi Yield while maintaining the confidentiality of their individual deposits and balances.
- Morpho’s institutional growth shows how privacy tools are being used at scale in established Onchain Lending Infrastructure.
A July 16 post from ZamaSteakhouse Confidential Prime USDC vault had $23.23 millions at Ethereum block 25544,806. According to the company, this placed them eighth in total deposits for Morpho V1 or V2 USDC vaults. Zama stated the deposit and ranking figures as a snapshot. They can be changed by users when they deposit and withdraw money.
Confidential USDC moves into established DeFi infrastructure
The Steakhouse Confidential USDC vault officially opened its doors on 23 June. Steakhouse Financial defines the strategy. Morpho supplies the lending infrastructure. Zama provides the technology for confidentiality.
Users can deposit USDC or cUSDC rather than USDC standard. Zama utilizes Fully Homomorphic Encryption in order to protect individual accounts and transaction amounts while still allowing them to be used with Ethereum applications. Deposits are used in a Morpho-lending market strategy, backed with collateral like cbBTC WBTC and WstETH.
Zama cites $23.23M as the demand indicator
Zama said the company’s rapid growth was evidence of users willingly investing capital in confidential financial infrastructure. According to the company, “capital is ready to flow through confidential rails,” While acknowledging the ongoing incentive programs that have helped to attract deposits.
A 12-week incentive program was added to the vault’s yield, which is generated by Morpho. Zama stated that the native strategy produced about 4% at the time the vault launched. Additional incentives were offered to early depositors. By July 2, the company reported that it had deposited more than 14 million dollars. The total amount subsequently reached $23.23 millions on July 16th.
Morpho to attract more vaults of the institutional style
Morpho is attracting asset managers and curators to the vault. It’s Bitwise launched In January it launched the first Onchain Vault on Morpho. The vault targets stablecoin loans through a structure that is not custodial.
Morpho is also expanding through integrations with consumer wallets. Trezor was reported on by crypto.news. added Steakhouse vaults curated in USDC and USDT will be available to users starting May. These developments allow Zama to integrate its product into an existing market, rather than forcing users to transfer liquidity to another blockchain.
Even today, there are still questions about confidentiality in finance
Zama’s USDC confidential system was already put to the test with the stablecoin it is based on. Circle temporarily froze a Zama USDC contract in May after a US Court Order. Later, the order was lifted and Zama reported that funds were returned to normal operations.
As before reportedZama has been prompted to work faster on tools for compliance and controlled information disclosure. The company claims that its system is designed to encrypt transactional details, rather than make the users anonymous. They also plan tools for meeting legal and regulation requirements.
Zama says that the cross-chain model of confidentiality can be used to add privacy wherever liquidity is present, rather than requiring an additional Layer 1 or 2. This $23.23-million vault is a test case for this approach. However, continued deposits will provide a better measure of the demand after the incentive ends.
