Shiba Inu, or SHIB for short, is undoubtedly one of the top cryptocurrencies on the market. SHIB, in spite of its popularity, has experienced a steep price decline over the last couple years. In September 2025 85% of all SHIB holders were at a loss. SHIB has gained another zero to its decimal after the current market collapse. According to CoinGecko’s Shiba Inu dataSHIB is down 7.5% since the 24 hour mark, 20.8% from last week to 14 day charts and 26.6% in comparison with the prior month. Should you sell SHIB now, with such losses? Or is it possible that the price will recover in time?
Can Shiba Inu recover from its loss?

Shiba Inu, or SHIB for short, registered one of most notable rallies on the crypto market in just a few months after its August 2020 launch. This dog-themed coin gained a lot of momentum in October 2020, and reached a high value of $0.00008616. Many investors who invested early made huge profits. Many investors bought SHIB near the peak. The investors who bought SHIB at the top are now sitting on huge losses.
Shiba Inu could recover some losses but it is possible that Shiba Inu will never reach its $0.00008616 all-time peak unless there are very drastic changes. SHIB’s rally for 2021 has been fuelled by Vitalik Buterin burning 410 trillion tokens. Buterin was given half the SHIB supply, and decided to destroy 90% of it. He caused a huge supply drop, which led to an increase in prices.

Shiba Inu still have around 589 trillion Shiba Inu coin in circulation. A high supply of coins makes it hard to hit big prices. The asset is also behind in utility scenarios. Shibarium’s layer-2 network is a real-world asset, yet it lags behind in many other areas.
Shiba Inu’s (SHIB), if the overall crypto market improves, could enjoy a good rally. It may not be as easy to regain its previous peak.
