- Crypto is enjoying a boom, as evidenced by the political backing and ETF flows, along with the increasing institutional and public adoption.
- Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins, IPOs and a shift in dominance will determine the second half of 2018.
Crypto is having a moment — in Washington and on Wall Street.
The U.S. president Donald Trump established a strategy in the past year. Bitcoin [BTC] A new altcoin Reserve was announced.
Parallel to the Senate, passed the GENIUS Act Then, there is the CLARITY Act The inauguration of the new year is now underway.
The tech-side of things Ethereum [ETH] Early May, we saw the upgrade of Pectra. Spot bitcoin ETFs, in the traditional financial world, are pulling in a lot of cash. They have raked in more than $14.4 Billion in net flows so far this calendar year.
The stock market was not surprised. BTC has jumped 15% YTD—double the S&P 500’s gains—nudging closer to its all-time high near $112,000.
What are those bullish targets for the end of year? Now, those bullish year-end targets don’t look so outlandish.
How long will Bitcoin Treasury Bonds continue to boom?
Over 135 public corporations now hold Bitcoin as their reserve asset. This treasury approach is becoming more mainstream.
Strategy, a long-standing player in the industry, continues to invest heavily. Meanwhile newcomers like Metaplanet or Twenty One are quickly joining.
Some people see a limitless upside, but not all. James Check, crypto analyst said,
“My instinct is the Bitcoin treasury strategy has a far shorter lifespan than most expect. And for many new entrants, it could already be over.”
Check says that the market is nearing saturation.
“We’re already close to the ‘show me’ phase, where it will be increasingly difficult for random company X to sustain a premium and get off the ground without a serious niche.”
The main source of capital for the newcomers has been retail investors. But their appetite is limited.
Although the bullish sentiment surrounding Bitcoin might keep it going, those with a bold and early brand, as well as those who have a strong track record, will be the ones to benefit.
There’s still room for optimism.
Analyst Ali Martinez recently posted on X The following are some examples of how to use The next top of the market may be reached in six months if current trends are similar to past ones.
Bitcoin’s current trajectory is outpacing the cycles of 2013 and 2017. It has risen nearly 2,000% from the previous cycle peak. This shows that the momentum, though volatile, remains intact.
Ethereum: The Race to Stay Relevant
Ethereum is the current second-placed crypto currency, but it has not been unchallenged. The cryptocurrency has fallen behind Bitcoin as well as faster moving rivals like Solana [SOL], ETH is finally at a critical point.
The Pectra update for Ethereum has restored confidence after a price crash earlier this year.
Fusaka will be next in line, with a release date of late 2025. This upgrade introduces PeerDAS and Verkle trees, both expected to dramatically reduce storage and computation costs across the Ethereum stack—especially for Layer 2s and validators.
In the near future, some analysts have already projected a $6,000 price for ETH. They are banking on Layer 2’s traction and developer motivation.
ETH is not a popular coin. The actual momentum remains to be seen, but as of now, ETH seems to be coming back — slowly and surely.
Wall Street watches as altcoins endure a period of lull.
The altcoin market just went through a major cleanse — over 1,400 previously active tokens have disappeared in 2025. The market is maturing: Only the most robust projects will remain.
Investors speculate: As Bitcoin dominance begins to decline, is this the beginning of Altcoin Season 2.0?
Likewise, public exchanges are expanding access to cryptocurrency. Bitcoin and Ether ETFs have already been launched, but tweaks such as in-kind redemption or staking may improve their performance.
James Seyffart, a Bloomberg analyst, has said that ETFs could be issued for digital assets in the future.
Circle could soon be followed by other firms such as Galaxy, eToro or even Consensys.
This momentum could continue for the rest of this year.
