Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum and a trusted wallet team, reminds Ethereum users that they should rely only on the contracts which have been approved by them. This is due to security concerns regarding the new upgrade.
A recent post Warpcast is a social media decentralization platform. Buterin Ethereum (ETHThe latest protocol and the community’s concerns upgrade, EIP-7702. One user posted a tweet from X’s @nftchance. He pointed out that the “non-viability” The EIP-7702
Users have pointed out the fact that wallets block websites which are not suspect. The wallet allows potentially fraudulent contract delegations to go through. This could make users vulnerable. security Hacking attacks like phishing or other types of cyber-hacking.
“Meanwhile they’re going to allow arbitrary delegation that can result in complete portfolio loss in one signature,” On X, the user said:
Vitalik Buterin, upon seeing the critiques of this upgrade, offered some advice as to how one could mitigate any risks. He said that a good way to utilize the EIP7702 upgrade is to delegate only audited contracts in order to avoid security exploits.
“The right way to use [EIP] 7702 is to delegate exactly one contract that is well reviewed by the wallet team and the Ethereum community, and have that contract implement the remaining logic in a safe way,” Buterin, in a recent Warpcast posting.
EIP-7102 introduces a brand new transaction type that allows EOAs (Externally Owned Accounts) to temporarily act as smart contract account during a single operation. The new feature allows users to perform advanced transactions including gas sponsorships. batch transactions and custom logic without having EOAs converted into smart contract account.
The EOA will return to its initial state after the transaction has been processed. This allows for complex operations, without altering permanently the account structure.
Many have noted that the upgrade, while aiming to create greater flexibility and simplify account abstraction for users, also poses potential security threats. Attackers could, for example, exploit the upgrade by creating contracts which appear safe in normal circumstances, but may hide security loopholes that are activated when certain conditions occur.
Users become increasingly wary that they might fall prey to a scam. phishing Attacks under the new upgrades if system is tricked to delegate control fraudulent contracts.
The Ethereum Improvement Proposal (7702) is part of a broader initiative. Pectra The upgrade was initially scheduled to be officially launched on Ethereum Mainnet on May 7, 2019. According to the results Pectra’s client update is scheduled to be released on April 21. Upgrade would include EIP-7702 to add delegated states for JSON-RPC.
Vitalik Buterin co-authored The EIP-7702, with Ansgar Dastrich, Matt Garnett and Sam Wilson, offers better synergy between smart contracts.
