Hugo Nguyen of Nunchuk said to Bitcoin Magazine, that when the Honk Honk Hodl Wallet received so many donations from individuals, the wallet actually broke. It was impossible for the app to handle so many inputs of bitcoin and it had to be updated to allow the activists to move their money.

Bitcoin donations were a test of the digital currency’s supposed resistance to censorship. Canada has sent Nunchuk Inc. a Mareva Injunction demanding it freeze users’ funds and provide user data to government. Nunchuk was unable to comply with the Mareva injunction because it is a non-custodial wallet that prioritizes privacy. Nunchuk, which was a startup that had been self-funded for two months at the time of this incident, did not have any power to comply. This was their response:

Over 90 truckers received over 14 bitcoins in a few hours. Each envelope contained 8000 Canadian Dollars.
