This glitch is a result of the closure of RTFKT, Nike shut down the studio in December 2024. The blockchain remained secure, and the metadata and ownership remained intact. However, due to an issue with third-party hosting services the visual assets associated with the tokens were temporarily unavailable.

Samuel Cardillo – former head of technology at RTFKT – has now confirmed there are efforts underway to stop similar disruptions from happening in the future.

What is next for RTFKT

The following is a list of the most popular ways to contact us RTFKT Nike has closed the company, but its collection continues to exist on the second market. In order to protect the media assets that are associated with these collections, Cardillo announced a migration to Arweave, A decentralised network of storage that allows the user to permanently store documents.

The team will move 200GB worth of images using AR Drive, an interface built for Arweave. This is expected to be completed by April 30. It is hoped that this transition will eliminate the need for services like Cloudflare to be available and allow holders to access their NFTs even if third party service disruptions occur.

Storage move estimated at around $2800. The goal is to ensure long-term accessibility to digital files related to RTFKT NFTs.
