First in the country, a major US Bank allows customers to purchase, store and sell Bitcoin directly on its platform.
PNC Bank says it’s launched the new feature for eligible PNC Private Bank clients, using Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service infrastructure.
Clients with high-net worth can now trade Bitcoin spot without the need for separate exchange accounts. PNC’s Portfolio View, which is part of the online banking system, allows them to access this service. PNC’s goal is to facilitate crypto participation within a secure environment.
A partnership announced for July 2025 will combine PNC’s banking skills with Coinbase’s trading tools, custodial services, and financial financing. The clients can now manage all their assets from one central location.
“As client interest in digital assets grows, we offer secure options within their financial lives,” William S. Demchak, CEO of PNC. Brett Tejpaul, co-CEO of Coinbase, noted that the partnership expands access to cryptocurrency in a safe way.
PNC intends to expand the service and include new features. PNC Private Bank provides tailored estate and investing planning for ultra-high-net worth individuals.
PNC is now a pioneer in the integration of traditional financial assets with digital ones.
