Just a few short months later, we reach a new milestone. Hong Kong approved The move follows similar ones in Europe and the U.S. These ETFs allow investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin without actually owning Bitcoin.
Assets under management continue to grow despite a slower volume than U.S. Bitcoin exchange-traded funds. It is clear that institutional demand for Bitcoin products regulated in Asia has increased.

Bosera Hashkey’s Bitcoin ETF, which has around $99,000,000 in assets, is followed by Harvest Bitcoin ETF at $31,000,000. Total Bitcoin held by the Hong Kong-based ETFs amounts to approximately 4,450 BTC (or $272m at current exchange rates).
In the long run, industry analysts believe that innovations such as ETFs redemption methods could bring in more capital. Hong Kong’s products are able to redeem in kind using Bitcoin, whereas U.S.-based ETFs only allow cash redemptions.
Growth in Asia indicates a growing adoption of Bitcoin by institutions. If the interest in Hong Kong’s spot Bitcoin-ETFs remains at its current level, it could become a major regional source of Bitcoin demand.
Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and other Asian nations are in line to be launched spot Bitcoin ETFs. The move could allow Bitcoin to be integrated into the mainstream of finance in Africa.
