Matt Hamilton, a former Ripple executive, recently spoke about the reasons he thinks XRP outperforms Bitcoin. Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Hamilton didn’t mince his words in comparing both. He noted specifically that Bitcoin is not without its drawbacks but XRP has the potential to eventually gain a wider audience.

Hamilton pointed out that XRP offers a huge scalability edge over BTC. Its low speed is a deterrent to mass adoption. BTC has a limited network, which can only process 10 transactions. Large-scale cross-border payment would be impossible.
Hamilton stated that, due to concerns about scalability, an individual would be limited to only two transactions in their lifetime if Bitcoin were the only currency used for global transactions. It has not caught up with the competition despite addressing the problem.
The XRP Ledger can process mass transactions. In the past year, network performance increased from 1,500 to 3,400 transactions per second. Hamilton also cites transaction costs as a second reason for XRP’s superiority.
He said that Bitcoin comes with some pretty high transaction fees. Hamilton points out that the reality of this could be prohibitive for most people. BTC is only for the wealthy. XRP eliminates the issue by charging $0.0002 for each transaction.
